grill-me has turned out to be handy. I’ve used it a handful of times now to turn a loose idea into something I can commit to. It’s a structured interview that keeps going in rounds until the vague parts are pinned down, and it doesn’t need a repo or write any files.
I reach for
grill-with-docs most, though. It runs the same interview but writes what you agree on into the repo as you go: a CONTEXT.md glossary as terms are resolved, and an ADR under docs/adr/ for anything hard to reverse or worth explaining later. I was already writing ADRs by hand, so it fitted straight into that habit, and now the format is consistent across every repo I touch at work.
I haven’t tried
wayfinder yet. It looks like the next step for anything too big for one grilling session: it charts a multi-session effort as a map of decision tickets on the issue tracker, so nothing gets built until the open questions are resolved.
